🗣️ The Counterargument: Why We ALL Need to Be "Strength and Conditioning Coaches"

Yesterday we covered Nick DiMarco's argument for changing your title to expand your scope and pay. Today, we look at a 2024 article from Dr. Justin Lima at Strength Coach Network making the opposite case: we need to unite under one title — Strength and Conditioning Coach — or risk fragmenting our profession. Lima argues the field is only 50 years old and still establishing legitimacy. When coaches splinter into "sports performance coach," "athletic performance coach," and other titles, we confuse the people hiring us. The NSCA just got S&C coaches federally recognized in the 2028 Standard Occupation Classification. Adding separate classifications for every title variation would be absurd.

The bigger issue: NFL and college S&C coaches on "front office contracts" instead of coaching contracts miss out on massive playoff bonuses — sometimes $300,000+ for Super Bowl runs. They also get fired in June when there are no jobs available. Lima's call to unity: if you work with one team only, you need to be on coaching contracts. Athletic trainers aren't fighting over their title. Neither should we. Read More

💊 Peptide Summer is Coming

Secretary Kennedy announced the FDA will remove 12 peptides from Category 2 ("Bulk Drug Substances that Raise Significant Safety Risks") and bring them to independent expert review beginning in July. The list includes BPC-157, TB-500, GHK-Cu, MOTS-c, DSIP, Dihexa, Ibutamoren, Melanotan II, KPV, Semax, LL-37, and Epitalon.

If approved after review, these peptides could be legally prescribed through compounding pharmacies by late summer. The action restores regulated access and shifts demand away from the black market that emerged after the substances were classified as high-risk in September 2023. See More

🏃 How to Implement the 10x10 Repeat Sprint Protocol

Derek Hanson breaks down how he adjusts the 10x10 repeat sprint protocol based on training goals. For conditioning: complete 10 reps in 60 seconds with 2-5 minute rest. For rehab: 10-12 seconds per rep, 2-minute set completion. For speed development: 18-30 second rest between reps, all 10 reps at max effort with no drop-off.

The key is monitoring total time per rep including setup for the next acceleration, not just sprint time. Read More
