😴 The Seahawks Built a Full-Scale Sleep Program - Here's What's Inside

The Seattle Seahawks don't just tell players to sleep more - they have an infrastructure for it. Dr. Cheri Mah, a sleep physician and adjunct lecturer at the Stanford Sleep Medicine Center, is entering her fourth season working with the team. But what stands out is how the program is built: a five-person interdepartmental sleep task force - spanning nutrition, S&C, athletic training, and personnel development - acts as the on-the-ground operation when Mah isn't present.

VP of health and player performance Sam Ramsden calls sleep "the number one way to recover." Mah's message to rookies last week: "Sleep is a weapon. It is a highly underutilized, underleveraged area of performance enhancement. If you're not willing to do it, I will tell you that the guy next to you is going to." Zack Marshall, the Michigan tight end who was on the 2023 national championship roster, said the Wolverines are in the best physical shape he's seen during his time in Ann Arbor - and he's crediting the new S&C staff.

New director of strength and conditioning Doug Elisaia, who spent 21 seasons at Utah before Kyle Whittingham brought him to Michigan, has made an impression. "From a physical standpoint, we're the strongest, fastest and most conditioned than we've ever been," Marshall said on the In the Trenches with Jon Jansen podcast. 🏀 Matt June Named Syracuse Men's Basketball Director of Strength and Conditioning

Matt June has been named men's basketball director of strength and conditioning at Syracuse, following head coach Gerry McNamara from Siena, where June was the S&C coach for the past two seasons.

At Siena, McNamara took a program from four wins in 2023-24 to a MAAC Tournament championship and NCAA Tournament appearance in two years. June previously served as head of performance at Athletes Warehouse, strength and conditioning coordinator at Colonie High School, and S&C coach at the College of St. Rose. Read More
