🔥 Carbs & Fatigue
A recent review of more than 160 studies challenges the long-held idea that fatigue is mainly about empty muscle glycogen. Instead, it points to exercise-induced hypoglycemia (EIH) — low blood sugar impairing brain function — as the primary driver. In this model, carbs boost performance mostly by protecting blood glucose and the brain, rather than simply “refilling” muscles. Read More
🧠 Brain Games = Better Gains
The INHANCE neuroimaging study found that brain exercises in BrainHQ can increase acetylcholine—the neurotransmitter tied to attention, reaction speed, and muscle activation. Acetylcholine naturally declines with age, but it plays a major role in sports performance, especially in “recognize and react” situations. Higher levels are linked to sharper focus, faster reads, cleaner movement, and better split-second decisions.
The findings gained traction after Tom Brady publicly incorporated BrainHQ into the TB12 Method. Bottom line: cognitive training is moving beyond aging research and into the performance toolbox. Read More
