A recent Science for Sport article highlighted a post from S&C coach Zach Emberson pointing to new research on injury risk. Using data from 5,200+ runners and ~580,000 sessions, the study found that sudden spikes in single-session load—especially >10% compared to the previous 30 days—were strongly linked to overuse injuries. In a recent X post, Matt Walker highlighted the “warm bath effect”: taking a hot bath (40–41°C) about 90 minutes before bed can noticeably improve sleep. The heat causes your core body temperature to drop afterward, which signals the brain it’s time to sleep—leading to more deep sleep and fewer nighttime awakenings.
